Civet Cat song
After the first fur investigation and exposure in 2005, a Chinese song writer called Kang Kang wrote a song for these animals. He explained: “I lived a life of my own, until I saw the video of killing civet cats for their pelts. My heart was pounding, when I watched those cute little creatures being grabbed roughly by human hands, in pain, shouting, crying like babies. They were stripped off their fur, covered with blood, their bodies still alive. I could clearly see their eyes filled with tears. Me and my friends, all guys, were unable to watch, although it was only ten minutes of video. In that moment, I decided to do something for these animals and created a song called ‘civet cat’”. Still actual.

‘I Am The Owner of This Coat’
I am the owner, the owner of this coat
Brown eyed, small
Without a hope,
Soon to perish, soon to cry
Just so you may wear, my fur with pride…You may not wonder, how I feel
N’ you may not know, my pain is real
But I wonder, how you live with YOU
As you live with me -
Now I’m through…Yes I grace your neck, oh I keep you warm
And through my death, there’s your careless arm -
Oh you’re stroking oh, what once was alive
My heart, my bone, laid aside…Now I’m merely, dirt and dust
Just a memory, of broken trust
Just an animal, for you to KILL
A trinket made of life, for your fashion thrill…Oh I have no voice
Oh I have no name
Just a wretched piece of meat
Drowning in vain
Oh speak for me now
Oh please hear my plea..
Oh don’t, don’t, don’t, don’t turn your back on me…I am the owner, the owner of this coat
Brown eyed, small
Without a hope,
Soon to perish, so soon to cry
Just so you may wear, my fur with pride….©Maria Daines/Paul Killington

Skinned alive
A song has been launched to expose the pain, suffering and killings in the name of the fashion fur industry. Listen to the voices to the millions of helpless innocent animals living in torture, only to end up being skinned alive for fashion !

Skinned alive
It’s not a bad dream
It happens in real life
They tear off our skin
while we are still alive
why do they take
our souls away
for coats to wear
on winter days ?We are scared and afraid
Facing our death alone
standing in a line
waiting for our turn
look into our eyes
we feel pain just like you
but we cannot talk
that’s why we need youLet’s get together
Let’s give them a voice
Get up, stand up
Let’s make that choice
The animal rights revolution starts
We will fight for the beating hearts
We have to answer their cry to survive
And let the animals stay beautiful alive !Born into deprivation
Short life in a tiny cell
Misery and isolation
Angels forgotten in hell
Our bodies laid aside,
Our bones are thrown
Now, our death is ready to be wornNo protection and no explanation
To this deadly pain, humiliation
We have only you, please understand
Save us from fashion’s cruel deadly handLet’s get together
Let’s give them a voice
Get up, stand up
Let’s make that choice
The animal rights revolution starts
We will fight for the beating hearts
We have to answer their cry to survive
And let the animals stay beautiful alive !
