Urge China to introduce an Animal Protection Law

There is an increasing number of cases where individuals torture animals and publicise widely on the internet their abuse and the satisfaction they get from such acts. This shows yet again that the adoption of proper animal welfare legislation in China is an urgent need. In a land with no laws, anything is possible, and when anything is possible, every horror imaginable occurs.

Shanghai: punish the cat traders

On Sep. 8, Tungchuan Rd., Shanghai city, more than three hundred of cats were rescuered from the hands of cat thieves. In Shanghai city there have been many thieves. Some foreigners lost their cats too. The cats stolen are shipped to Guangdong to be killed for food. This is a horrible cruelty on cats. It is very important let the public know that the cat thieves are not only cruel but also illegal. Therefore the cat carers and animal advocates in China started a petition addressed to Shanghai leaders asking for the  punishment of  the cat thieves. Please, support the letter written by Chinese volunteers.

China: Ban dog and cat meat

Cats and dogs are treated as part of the family in most households in China. How can you imagine that these wonderful animals and companions of our people are tortured so badly?

Fur Trade – sample letter

Please write a polite letter to the Chinese Ambassador and send it to the main embassy address in your country. Embassy addresses can be found here.

Example Letter to the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China.

Dear Ambassador,

I have just learned that in China millions of domestic dogs and cats are brutally treated and inhumanely killed for the fur trade. These animals are either strays, or stolen pets. The products are exported to other countries, often deliberately mislabelled, and sold to consumers who are often unaware their purchase results from the pain and suffering of domestic dogs and cats.

This level of animal cruelty should not be tolerated in any country. There is an urgent need for animal welfare legislation to be established in China to protect these animals from the lack of care they currently endure.

Please put an end to this abominable trade to prevent further unnecessary cruelty and suffering from taking place.

Yours sincerely,

NAME
